You will need blue and white worsted weight yarn and a 3.5mm hook. At the end of each row chain 1 and turn.
Begin with 25 Foundation Half Double Crochet in blue yarn. If you need any help with Foundation Stitches please refer to this post where I provide a detailed tutorial.
Row 2:
HDCx5. SCx5. HDCx5. SCx5. HDCx5
Row 3
Repeat row 2.
Pull up white on the last HDC of the row.
Row 4
Carry the blue working yarn. To carry a working yarn crochet over it so that it is tucked inside the stitch. HDCx5. SCx5. HDCx5. SCx5. HDCx5. Pull up blue on the last HDC.
Row 5
In the 3rd loop of the previous row's half double crochet, single crochet in the next 5 stitches.
In the back bump of the previous row's single crochet, half double crochet in the next 5 stitches.
SCx5. HDCx5. SCx5 across the row. Make sure to go all the way to the last back bump so that your edges are straight.
Row 6-7
SCx5, HDCx5, Scx5, HDCx5, SCx5
Pull up white on the last SC of row 7.
Row 8
SCx5. HDCx5. SCx5. HDCx5. SCx5 in white.
Row 9
In the back bump of the previous row's single crochet, HDC in the next 5 stitches. Then, in the 3rd loop of the previous row's HDC, SC in the next 5 stitches. Repeat across the row.
Repeat rows 2-9 until you have 24 rows.
Fasten off and weave in ends!
