Barn Tile

You will need red, black, yellow, white weight yarn and a 3.5mm hook. At the end of each row chain 1 and turn.

 

Face

Chain 16. Begin in second chain from the hook.

Row 1 -10 HDC across [15]

 

Triangle

Row 1 Attach yarn in the seventh stitch from the right. Skip one stitch and in the 9th stitch from the right side make 2HDC. Chain 1. 2HDC. This is your increase. SS in the next 3 stitches on the face and turn.

Row 2 HDCx3. Increase in the chain space of the previous increase. HDCx3 SS in the next 3 stitches on the face and turn.

Row 3 HDCx4. Increase in the chain space of the previous increase. HDCx4. SS in the next 3 stitches on the face and turn.

Row 4 HDCx5. Increase in the chain space of the previous increase. HDCx5. SS in the next 3 stitches on the face and turn.

 

Side

Chain 19. Begin in second chain from hook

Row 1 HDC across [18]

Row 2 HDC2TOG. HDCx15. 2HDC [18]

Row 3 2HDC. HDCx15. HDC2TOG. [18]

Row 4-10 repeat rows 2-3 [18]

Arrange the pieces so that the rows line up. Fold the edges of the face and side together. SC along the edge.

 

Roof

Attach black yarn on the upper right corner of the side barn panel.

Row 1 HDC2TOG. HDCx15. 2HDC [18]

Row 2 2HDC. HDCx15. HDC2TOG. [18]

Rows 3-7 Repeat rows 1-2. SC along the far side of the triangle. make one SC on the face. Fold the inner edges of the triangle and the roof together and single crochet along the edge.


 

Embroider the door and window

Thread your yarn needle with white yarn. Insert your needle from the backside of the fabric 4 stitches right of the bottom left corner. Make a line 8 rows high, insert into the fabric, and pull through. In the same row, bring your needle to the front of the fabric 4 stitches left of the right edge. Make a line to the bottom and pull through. Then make two horizontal lines connecting the two vertical lines.


Keeping the same needle, make an X connecting the corners.


Keeping the same needle, stitch a triangle parallel with the door.

 

Make a tile in yellow yarn that is 25 HDC wide by 20 rows high. Place the barn on top, lining up the corners. Attach red yarn at the bottom left corner and slip stitch through both layers of fabric to attach the barn to the tile. Make sure you line up the edges and corners. change to black yarn and repeat for the roof portion. When you reach the left edge of the barn, lightly stuff the barn and slip stitch closed.


 

Fasten off and weave in all ends!
